The tangible universe

the whole of it

is just a surface surrounding a hole.

The surface ever-changing

the hole eternal.

Like the image of God,

the burning bush,

its flames ever-changing and its branches eternal.

Like Swiss cheese

holes within and cheese without

mutually dependent

otherwise it’s not Swiss cheese.

Like the human eye

each of us with the same colorless pupil

and unique pattern and color surrounding the hole.
